Japanese artisan Buchin Yoshioka resides in a hamlet close to Mount Fuji, communicates solely in his native tongue, and crafts objects that appear to possess life. His creations of butterflies, dragonflies, and beetles mimic the movements of living creatures. He is determined to pursue this goal relentlessly until they are indistinguishable from their natural counterparts.

The craftsman occupies a small studio within his home. Plump, smiling white cats with enigmatic expressions roam the house. The workspace resembles that of unrecognized geniuses: one wall is lined with books, while others hold workbenches equipped with modern computers and microscopes, showcasing Japanese technological prowess. Familiar book spines stand out, including numerous volumes on Lalique, vintage watch catalogs, and other jewelry literature. Photos on the wall depict the master with European individuals against a Jaquet Droz backdrop, suggesting the Swiss brand utilized his expertise for intricate timepieces.

Buchin appears entirely indifferent to the future of his creations. A Chinese retailer purchases his insects and sells them at high prices, yet he would continue working regardless of their presence. Each piece requires between three to six months to complete. The master works with fanaticism, pausing only for brief sleep and simple meals.
