Born near Birmingham in 1893, Dorrie Nossiter (1893–1977) was an English jeweler and designer. She studied at the Birmingham Municipal Art School between 1910 and 1914. By 1935, she had relocated to London, participating in the “The Art of Four Women” exhibition at the Walker Gallery, where she continued to show her work through 1939. Nossiter’s creations are frequently mistaken for those of contemporary female designer Sibylle Dunlop.

However, a comparison reveals distinct differences: Nossiter preferred asymmetrical floral motifs featuring numerous clear prong-set stones, whereas Dunlop favored symmetrical geometric patterns. Nossiter crafted precious pieces from gold and silver, producing designs that evoke luxurious flower bouquets. Most of her surviving work originates from the 1930s.
