Rice-Weiner, an American firm, is most renowned for its “Thief of Baghdad” collection. Other designs, such as Jeray, Etrusceana (the Etruscan line), “The Jungle Book,” and Indo Craft (a brooch discussed previously), are far rarer. The alignment of these collection names with classic Hollywood fairy tales is not accidental.

A charming story claims that director-producer Alexander Korda commissioned pieces from Rice-Weiner for his entire cast and crew as mementos, with some items even bearing the “Alexsander Korda” stamp. Following a mid-1940s internal dispute, half the designers left to join McClelland Barclay Jewelry Co., and Rice-Weiner ceased operations in 1958.
